Department of Environment and Sanitation

The Directorate regulate provision of refuse collection and solid waste management services, afforestation
program/greening program along major roads, and government institution. they also perform Food and water quality control, inspection, and enforcement of the Public Health Act by enforcing occupational health standards.

Environment

Mandera municipality through its greening program have planted over 17,000 trees across Mandera town. This is informed by our desire to realize a well-being of our environment.

Sanitation

The department is responsible for collecting and disposing of refuse. We’ve enough garbage tracks, installed litter bins across the town & constructed garbage collection point to facilitate this campaign.

Public Health

Mandera Municipality Public Health Unit are responsible of preventing, promoting and protecting the general Health of the Public. We have a team of professionals who serves with utmost diligency.

Animals Welfare

The department aims to prevent and control animal diseases to safeguard human health, improve animal welfare, increase livestock productivity and facilitate domestic trade.

Mandera Town Greening Program

Mandera County government has begun an ambitious project of greening Mandera through tree planting.
The project that is being carried out by Mandera Municipality. a total of 1834 youth and elderly mothers has planted fifteen trees each along the roads within Municipality in mitigating the effects of the hot climate in the region.

Municipal Manager who led the exercise urged youths to nature the trees as they carry on with the cleaning programme in the area.
